I picked up the BF Complete collection. Installed it and applied the to b patch. Single player works fine and everything but whenever I try to connect to an internet server I get an "invalid cd-key" message. Any ideas on how to fix this?
The cd-key is usually stored at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA GAMES\Battlefield \ergc
Vista bit adds another level named:
\WowNode
So for bit systems the key is actually stored here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WowNode\Electronic Arts\EA GAMES\Battlefield \ergc
My hypothesis is the program is looking for the key at the old location and not finding it which is why it says I have an invalid cd-key.
It would be nice if other people having this problem that bought the game brand new post their OS to see if my hypothesis is correct. :)
bf, Road to Rome, Secret Weapons of WWII and Vietnam Something else is causing the issue I guess.
If EA gets back to me with an actual solution rather than requestion my DOB or zip code (because that really would have something to do with this issue) then I'll post it here.
My laptop is running xp, and it also gives me the invalid cd key.
I've done the following so far (with no avail)
- properly uninstalled the game
- checked the registry to make sure there were no remnants..
- ran crap cleaner to double check the registry
- rebooted for safe measure
- clean install of , rtr, sw
- got the latest b patch and incremental
- and double checked the punkbuster, manually updating it through punkbuster setup (downloaded from their website)
I also tried the ea support forum and found where they said the codes arent in order.. tried that too and got an invalid code message too.. (rinse repeat the above)
still having no luck myself.
maybe we can work through this. my kids have 2 identical laptops, and one of them can play over the internet. the other one gives invalid key.
I find it extremely hard to believe that 3 out of 4 copies have invalid keys.

The only thing I can think of is pirates using cd-key generators to get their keys. They were subsequently blacklisted by EA one way or another we were unfortunate enough to have picked the games with keys that were already generated by pirates. It sucks because I'm having a blast playing the single player. Would love to play it online. :/
